I was amused, but very thankful, that Canada Geese control in New Jersey exists. I had just moved to the state, and could not figure out how Geese could ever be a problem. I previously ived across the country where it is rare to see them. In fact, I had only seen them twice in my life prior to moving to my new state. I saw them once in a petting zoo, and I later saw some at a pond when I was on a business trip. I was elated to see that there are so many of them around my neighborhood when I moved here. However, I have since learned that they can be a big problem.
I have two small children who love to play outdoors. I often sit out on our back porch while my girls are outside playing. I do this to keep them safe. You never know when a strange dog might wander into your yard or your own kids might wander off. So, I always make sure to go out there with them. I enjoy seeing all the wild birds in the area. I even bought a bird book that teaches you all the different names of the different flying creatures in your area. There are two kinds of Geese here, and I love seen them stop by our yard.
At some point, my girls began to safe old bread to feed the birds. We didn’t realize this would be a big problem. More and more geese showed up in our yard. Soon after, they became very aggressive with my girls, and both of the girls were afraid to go outside to play. The geese would chase them and squawk at them even though we were no longer feeding them. I had to call a company who handles these things to come help us. They trapped them and have moved them to other areas of the city.
